An Update

It's been a while! Our internet is still out, so I have to scavenge for access. Sage has been growing like crazy and is getting smarter and smarter every day! She smiles at us every morning and even laughs a little bit. It's more like a squeal but it's starting to turn into more of a giggle. She is so sweet. She loves it when I sing to her and make her legs "dance."
Sage got to meet all of her cousins on the Miller side in March when Matt's sister Amanda brought her family back to Missouri. Here they are all together:
I don't think the babies knew what to think of each other. Molly was very interested in Sage. All three of the babies were very calm and sweet the whole time - hardly any crying! We were so proud. They look like they are all about the same length, but Layla (middle) is the heaviest and Wes has the biggest feet. I think Sage has the biggest head.
Sage weighs about 12.5 lbs right now and is still growing fast. She is getting really good at holding her head up but still hates tummy time. We put her in the Bumbo seat a couple of times in the past week and she slumps over a little but really seems to like looking around and seeing what everybody's doing.
I've gone back to work and so we started her at daycare on the 11th. We HATED the daycare center in Fulton, so we took her out and I spent my spring break finding a new place. We started her at a home daycare in Columbia and we like it much better, although I did like it better when we could share the responsibility of picking her up and dropping her off. Now it makes most sense for me to do it all since I am only about 7 minutes away. Anyway, since we started at daycare she has not been sleeping as well as she was before, and Mom and Dad are feeling pretty ragged. Hopefully she will adjust soon and go back to sleeping 6-7 hours at night.
In other news, she is starting to enjoy baths a little more now that I've figured out a few tricks to help keep her warm. She's even smiled at me a few times in the tub!

We also took her to church for the first time on Easter Sunday. She did great and only cried a little at the end. I was a little afraid she would belch or fart loudly during a quiet moment, but she held it in. She is a champion gas-passer, my baby. We didn't get a picture of her alone in her Easter dress, but we did take a few family portraits:
When I get a chance I'll post another collage of her weekly pics thus far. I can't believe how much chunkier she is now than five weeks ago!
Almost Done...

Today we went back to the orthopedic doctor for another ultrasound and check-up, and he said that Sage is looking good and can now go to 12 hours in, 12 hours out of the harness. Great news! He even took a picture of her for a conference he is giving on hip dysplasia.
This appointment was an adventure today because it was the first one I went to without Matt. We survived! Sage was very good.
I will be posting her eight-week photo someday, but with the power flickering on and off during the last snowstorm, our modem quit working. I'm posting this from my phone. Hopefully we can get it fixed sometime this week an I can get back to blogging. In the meantime, here's a pic from my phone of Sage waiting ever-so-patiently for her ultrasound:
Seven Weeks Old

Not quite the full-on grin with her eyes involved and dimple showing, which will break your heart it's so adorable, but cute!
She has also started sleeping for one 3.5 - almost 5 hour stretch at night. Last night she even did one 4.5-hour and two 3-hour stretches, so Mommy's feelin' pretty good! It's a good thing, too, because I'm preparing for parent-teacher conferences (I have to do them over the phone even though I'm on leave) and I'm nervous.
In other exciting news, we had a snowstorm hit on Thursday, so Matt got to stay home from school with us for two days and Sage got to see her first accumulating snow.
Matt has not been so thrilled with the effects of the snow on our driveway, and has been getting stuck coming back home a few times. We are supposed to get another 2-6 inches between tonight and tomorrow also! I'm hoping for another snow day for Matt. I really enjoyed the four days that our little family got to spend together.
Sage also got to experience her first trip to the Fulton Wal-Mart yesterday when we went to pick up a few things before we get snowed in again. She was not impressed. 
Whew, what a weekend!
Sage's First Six Weeks

It's hard to believe how much Sage has grown in the past six weeks. I have been taking a weekly photo of her in her crib with a bear that Matt's cousin Amy gave us for a growth reference, but the lighting in her nursery is terrible so I may have to start taking them somewhere else. Anyway, I will try to start actually POSTING the photos weekly, but for now, here's the past six to catch you up:
Tummy Time

We haven't really been doing tummy time in the traditional sense so far with Sage's harness. She reallly hates being flat on her tummy doing the splits, and who can blame her?? Up till now, I've just been holding her tummy-to-tummy with me laying back and she pushes up on my chest. After we got the go-ahead from her doctor to let her out of the harness on Monday, I was eager to get her practicing. Here is a video of what we accomplished:
She's a little shaky but we are working on it!
Good News!

Sage's doctor said we can start weaning her off the harness by letting her out of it for four hours a day! He said after that we will go to just wearing it at night, and then will be totally out of it in about a month. Here she is celebrating:

One the flip side, we also had to go to the pediatrician on Monday because Sunday she woke up with a goopy, red eye and slept all day. She has a cold and pinkeye. We bought anitbiotics for her eye and saline drops for her nose, and since we started using the saline she's slept much longer at night. We got THREE 3-hour stretches last night! Woohoo!! She's always been kind of snorty at night so I think maybe the dry air was bothering her.
She has been crying most of the day, but I did manage to capture one content moment:
