Birthdays and a Baptism

Last weekend we went to Carrollton to celebrate cousin Molly's third birthday at the park and baptize Sage.  We had a fun time at the birthday party!

Sage enjoyed hanging out with her cousins.  She was very entertained by Molly.

Sage did really well getting baptised and only whined a little.  Luke and Jamie are her godparents and we think that makes her a  lucky little girl!

As Steve Miller would have said, "They really knocked the hell out of 'er!"

It was also my birthday and we had a great dinner courtesy of Debbie, and then Matt and I went out for supper at the Mexican restaurant in Carrollton.  It was a great weekend!

My First Mother's Day

On Sunday we went to church in Fulton and then out to Jalisco for lunch.  We hung out at home afterwards and Matt hung up the hammock he gave me for Christmas.  He gave me a lounge chair and a baby book for my Mother's Day gift, and then we got some Champ's chicken and had a picnic in the backyard.  It was a great day!

Weenie Roast

A while back Matt built a "fire pit" in our backyard, and we had been itching to try it out.  The weather has been so crazy that we haven't had many chances.  We took advantage of one (sort of) warmer day in April roast some hot dogs and make s'mores.  Sage wasn't thrilled with the weather, but we had fun!

4 Months Old Today!

Miss Sage is four months old today.  I can't believe it was four months ago that we met! She has made me a better person every day and I can't express my love for this little chunk.  She weighs about 14 pounds and is practicing talking all the time.  She has been rubbing her gums together which makes us think she might be teething.  My sister Megan says it makes her look like the Godfather. She is definitely drooly. Her new favorite thing to do is start kicking as hard as she can as soon as we put her in the baby tub, so we get drenched and she splashes all the water out.

On Saturday night we put her in her crib in the nursery for the first time since she has been sleeping well, and she did great! She slept 8-5:40, ate, and went back to sleep until 8:45.  Yes, I am a little embarrassed to admit it, but up until this weekend she was sleeping in a Pack 'n Play in our bedroom.  It was just easier to not have to go so far when she woke up in the middle of the night. She has started sleeping 10-12 hours at a time now, so it seemed like the perfect time for the move.  She didn't even seem to notice the difference! Matt and I think we are getting spoiled because she is such a sweet baby.

Sage has her well baby checkup tomorrow, and Matt will have to take her by himself.  She is getting shots, so I really wish I could be there to comfort her. We only have three more weeks of school and then a whole summer of Sage time though!

In other news, Matt will be the HEAD girls basketball coach at North Callaway next year!  He will also be assisting with baseball and is very excited about the new challenges.  He would eventually like to be the head boys basketball coach, but is happy to have the chance to run his own program with the girls.  We are both happy that he won't have to coach anything in the fall and will have more time for barbecuing and tailgating!

Holy Cow!

An Update

Posted by Emily , Thursday, April 4, 2013 10:40 AM

It's been a while! Our internet is still out, so I have to scavenge for access.  Sage has been growing like crazy and is getting smarter and smarter every day!  She smiles at us every morning and even laughs a little bit.  It's more like a squeal but it's starting to turn into more of a giggle.  She is so sweet.  She loves it when I sing to her and make her legs "dance."

Sage got to meet all of her cousins on the Miller side in March when Matt's sister Amanda brought her family back to Missouri.  Here they are all together:

I don't think the babies knew what to think of each other.  Molly was very interested in Sage. All three of the babies were very calm and sweet the whole time - hardly any crying!  We were so proud.  They look like they are all about the same length, but Layla (middle) is the heaviest and Wes has the biggest feet.  I think Sage has the biggest head.

Sage weighs about 12.5 lbs right now and is still growing fast.  She is getting really good at holding her head up but still hates tummy time.  We put her in the Bumbo seat a couple of times in the past week and she slumps over a little but really seems to like looking around and seeing what everybody's doing.

I've gone back to work and so we started her at daycare on the 11th.  We HATED the daycare center in Fulton, so we took her out and I spent my spring break finding a new place.  We started her at a home daycare in Columbia and we like it much better, although I did like it better when we could share the responsibility of picking her up and dropping her off.  Now it makes most sense for me to do it all since I am only about 7 minutes away.  Anyway, since we started at daycare she has not been sleeping as well as she was before, and Mom and Dad are feeling pretty ragged.  Hopefully she will adjust soon and go back to sleeping 6-7 hours at night.

In other news, she is starting to enjoy baths a little more now that I've figured out a few tricks to help keep her warm.  She's even smiled at me a few times in the tub!
So fresh and so clean!

We also took her to church for the first time on Easter Sunday.  She did great and only cried a little at the end.  I was a little afraid she would belch or fart loudly during a quiet moment, but she held it in.  She is a champion gas-passer, my baby.  We didn't get a picture of her alone in her Easter dress, but we did take a few family portraits:

When I get a chance I'll post another collage of her weekly pics thus far.  I can't believe how much chunkier she is now than five weeks ago!
